Postcards from the Southern Cone

About the Project

"Postcards from the Southern Cone" is the final project of the course "Digitising Cultural Heritage Material", which is part of the Master's Programme in Library and Information Science at the University of BorĂ¥s. It presents twenty digistised postcards from Uruguay and Argentina, which were sent during the first decade of the 20th century.

As our objective was to both preserve and share this cultural heritage material, we digitised, transcribed and encoded the postcards. For more information about the process, you can download the project's TEI here or visit our GitHub.

About the Collection

The digitised postcards are part of a personal collection owned by Alicia Pi. All the postcards have been found in second-hand bookshops and street markets in Uruguay, Argentina and Chile. We thank Alicia for kindly letting us use the material.

These postcards are in the public domain. However, if you recognise a relative's postcard and wish to have it removed, please contact us so we can take quick action.
